Can't get to my desktop. Microsoft window opens and says I have to pay for stuff?? Had this computer for years. How to get rid of that message and get my desktop back? Can't get it to go away!!!

You would need to give the exact text of the error message in order to get focused help. If the message says something like "your computer is infected; purchase [some program]" then that is a rogue security program and your computer is infected, but not with what the bad program says.
